Prudhoe air cadets have been an important part of the local community for over 60 years, during this time the squadron has continued its work towards meeting the aims of the Air Training Corps (ATC).
The Aims of the Air Training Corps are:
- To promote and encourage among young people a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force.
- To provide training which will be useful in the Services and civilian life.
- To foster the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship
Prudhoe squadron is very lucky to have a very dedicated team of staff and cadets, who put 100% effort into all that is asked of them. This effort is reflected in the success the squadron has had over the last few years.
Our cadets have excelled at local events, such as the Prudhoe remembrance parade and have been awarded many certificates in recognition of the hard work they have put into poppy collecting every November. The squadron has also recently won the wing drill competition, and has had great success with the Duke of Edinburgh’s award, gaining many bronze and silver accolades. In recent times our cadets have represented the region as the lord lieutenant’s cadet, attend summer camps in Cyprus and the UK, and gained their solo glider wings.
All in all Prudhoe air cadets are going from strength to strength, and the squadron continues to offer exciting opportunities for both its staff and cadets.
We are always willing to accept new cadets (aged 13-17) and members of staff (aged 20+), if you think the Air Cadets might be for you and you would like to know more please browse the site or contact me at Commanding Officer
