Flying
Cadets in the Air Training Corps are given the opportunity to fly in light aircraft as well as occasionally being given the chance of flying in fast jet aircraft.
Cadets are given plenty of opportunities to go flying at No.11 Air Experience Flying (AEF) located at RAF Leeming where they will fly the Grob Tutor, and maybe even participate in aerobatics.

Cadets in the past have had opportunities to fly in Civil Airliners as well as large RAF aircraft, you may even be given the chance to fly in a fast jet, cadets have even flown with the Red Arrows.
In addition to the Air Experience flying, cadets can also apply for schemes such as Flying Scholarships and Pilot Navigation… For a chance to achieve these all you have to do is apply!
The Flying Scholarship Scheme allows cadets to obtain elementary flight training on light aircraft, and is a large leap towards your Private Pilot’s License. The
Pilot Navigation Scheme allows cadets to attend a two week pilot navigation course and have 8 hours flying learning new skills and developing existing ones…
If you are lucky enough to complete one of these schemes you will be presented with one of the following Brevets which are worn on qualified cadet’s uniform:
